I found this neat tutorial today when I was looking for books on strip tubing (did not realize it was called that).... It is another neat way to easily piece some interesting blocks...

That technique reminds me a bit of this star pattern I found. Here it is called stack n slash and produces a rather lop-sided star once you take up the seam allowances.

I can see it as a baby quilt pattern done in bright primary colors.
