    Using your backing as binding!

Have you seen this? I'm thinking it would be really great to use on smaller projects such as table runners and placemats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hw_OBqG_nAI

    Enjoy!

This is a very efficient way to do a quick neat binding. I use it a lot on small items as well as on bigger quilts. I have these to tools that help. https://www.anniescatalog.com/detail.html?prod_id=93398 https://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponli...ay.asp?i=27435
I bought these when I worked for Viking sewing gallery, as the manager wanted me to demo them and use them when teaching.

I do it similar to Iris Girl except I use my regular ruler that has a 45 degree line on it and I slice off the corner before I sew. My DMIL taught me this method years ago. I do leave the 1/4" seam allowance and nip the corner off like in the video. I line the 45 degree line up with the edge of the quilt top (not the backing) and scoot the ruler 1/4" past the corner of the top then slice the corner of the backing off.

I think it was 15 plus years ago she showed me because I did this to the kids play quilt that I used fleece on the back and my boys are in their 20's and 30's now.
