    Baby items/ ideas please

Hi all. I have a new grandson on the way. Due June 17th. I'm working on some projects for him and would love suggestions. If you know of a pattern/ idea please share. This doesn't have to be only quilting, any sewn item is welcome. I'm already doing several quilts, burp clothes, receiving blankets, portable changing pad. Please any and all ideas are welcome. This is my daughters 2nd child, but it's been 12 years since they had a baby. My son-in-law is in medical school, and money is very tight for them, so I thought I would make as many things as I can. So many items are so much cheaper to make then buy, so Grandma to the rescue.

    Love,
    Liz

My kids really like bibs for the kids. I make the larger size for the todlers. I make them from the same flannel as the receiving blankets and burp clothes. I took a couple of bibs and made a pattern from them. Velcro or snaps for instead of ties. The ties get caught in hair.

Sounds to me like you have all the bases covered. Taggie blankets, little stuffed rattles, boppie covers, hooded towels, are just a few things that popped in my head. Congrats on the newest addition.

Congratulations!!! We just had our #10th grandchild so I know what you mean. Cloth books are real nice, and i was going to start making a learning book with zippers, snaps, buttons, strings to braid, shoe with laces to learn to tie. Cloth square with the clear plastic for I spy little things hidden in the little white balls like in the bean bags. (Not sure what there called) lol. Little cloth with ribbons around the edge or different textures If they are looped you can hang different things on them.

My DIL liked the sheets I made, 2 yards of fabric and I think I got the directions here or at least on the internet. She said they were easier to put on the bed than the store ones.
She also liked the bigger changing mat I made with a towel used instead of batting. She loved how absorbent it was.
Congrats on the new baby, they are so much fun.

Crib sheets are super easy to make. I borrowed the pattern from a friend, and whipped up a couple in no time. I think it was Simplicity. You could probably make one without a pattern. It used yardage the length of the mattress plus about 12". I could show you how to do it, but not sure I could explain it well. Maybe there is a tutorial somewhere?

Congrats! Have you seen the peepee teepees? Here is a you tube tute.

Congratulations. Covers for playpen pads are nice. My grandma made a diaper stacker for my first child and I used it with all of the children. Also a custom made diaper bag is nice - the size and amount of pockets that Dad and Mom would like is a great gift. I don't know if they plan on using a sling carrier but those can be really easy and a lot cheaper to make than buying one. A nursing cover can be easily made.
I don't know what pattern you are using for receiving blankets but thank you for making them. The new store bought ones are much smaller than blankets from 20 years ago. The last set that I got 7 years ago barely swaddled our newborn baby. Speaking of swaddling, swaddlers are nice to have.

I made a seat cover for grocery carts. It keeps my grandson away from all those germs!

I saw these cute little fabric thingies that you put over the latch so the doors don't latch shut. Just a piece of quilted fabric with elastic on each side to slip over door knobs!

I have made my fair share of receiving blankets, bibs and burp cloths. These sets have been well received.
