A new use for my zipper foot!

I usually hand stitch my bindings but today I decided to do a quick machine binding on a baby quilt. I stitched the binding to the front, turned it over to the back and started to stitch in the ditch on the front. I just wasn't happy with the foot on my machine and was wishing I had a foot to go alongside the ditch...and then it dawned on me...my zipper foot! It worked perfectly because it snugged up against the binding. Here's a pic:

I do a lot of binding on the machine particularly with items which are doomed to share a life with a washer and dryer. I'll have to try the zipper foot. Thanks for sharing.

Good idea! Thanks for sharing. I have a foot that has a little blade that goes down the edge.

great idea! I'm curious though - how do you wrap the binding around to the back for stitching? Do you use clips? Or just hold it as you go?

I used a couple of binding clips and would reposition them as I sewed.

This is how I sew my binding on…..but will be pulling out my zipper foot and try it next time, too. Very cool!

I haven't mastered the binding to the front with any success.

Wow. How clever that is. I'll try that next time. Looks like it would keep the stitchng straight too.
