    Gaining Storage Space

I had a lot of my yardage on the cardboard fabric boards from the fabric store. Took it all off one bolt by bolt and using my 6" x 24" ruler and rewrapped the fabric around the ruler like it was wrapped around the boards. Benefit here is that it reduced the size of my storage space by about 1/2; the ruler pulls out easily and, you can calculate roughly the yardage you have on that piece as you roll. In addition, they retain almost always the same length. I don't store them upright, but on shelving laying flat. Nice, neat and lets me easily see what I have (and why I don't need to go fabric shopping outside of my sewing studio).

Thanks for that. That is basically how I store my yardage, but standing up in a bookcase.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!
