What!? I didn't even know there was a National Quilting Day! I hope I get time and a half at work, but probably won't happen. I don't really know what one does on National Quilting Day ... quilt ALL DAY I suppose? But thanks you MSQC for your 10% discount ... that is certainly a good day to celebrate.

Ooh! I celebrated!!! I went to my non-local quilt shop (That means I came up to MO and the MSQC!!) and designed a new pattern!!! Woohoo! It's cute and not quite finished yet but somebody's gonna get a cute baby girl quilt and I'll have a new table runner and hopefully a cute pattern left over So yes! Happy National Quilting day!!

PS That's why I've been fairly non existent on the blogs lately
To stitch or not to stitch... There is no question.

Yes, I knew about National Quilt Day -- and to celebrate, 2 co-workers and I went to the "Great American Cover-Up" Quilt Show and Sale at Bulloch Hall, Roswell, GA where over 160 gorgeous quilts were displayed by the Buloch Hall Quilt Guild. This was there 27th annual event. I try to go each year and take someone with me in an effort to help promote quilting. The setting is a gorgeous historic home built in 1840 by James Bulloch for his wife, Martha, and their 6 children. In 1853 their daughter, Mittie, married Theodore Roosevelt, who became our 26th president.
However, before going to the show, we met at one of my co-worker's home, and took time for a tour of her home!!! Oh, WOW, WOW, WOW!!! She is a quilt lover -- not a quilt creator -- doesn't even sew!! If she likes what she sees, she purchases it (if the price is within her means, of course)!! She has purchased many gorgeous quilts -- vintage and contemporary. They are dispalyed on railings, on shelves of antique furniture, and (you have to see it to believe it) folded just right -- a clawfeet bathtub full of them!!! They are in just one long row in the tub -- all folded the width of the tub!! And (can you believe it!!??) her grandchildren have been allowed to sleep on top of them!!! It was a "show" before the show!!! I will never forget the great tour of her home!!!

What a great way to spend the day whether it's NQD or not!! Your friend sounds wonderful and fun. I think I would get a giggle out of seeing a bathtub full of quilts. I'm in Alabama...so I'll have to keep an eye out for this next year, thanks for telling us about it!! Sounds like a great event.
