God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

I like the looks of this. I have several Civil War jelly rolls that would work.

Couldn't you cut one 2 1/2 square for the center and then two 2 1/2 inch squares for each side. Then just cut two 6 1/2 inch strips for each side? Or am I thinking wrong? I like the quilt and I love Lynn's fabric lines.

That would work also. They are putting together the block like a log cabin. Normally with a log cabin you don't use the same fabric all the way around so you use the different lengths. But as this one uses the same fabric all the way around it isn't an issue.

I do like this pattern but OH....all those corners!!

That's how I would do it.

I'm not a fan of snowballing. I'm also not that fond of the dark Kansas Troubles fabrics. I can see this pattern using something brighter & more colorful.

In Lynne Hagmeier's quilt, the strips around the middle square are different fabrics. That may be why they were cut & sewn "log cabin style" like Jenny showed in the tutorial.

All of the pressing to the outside of the snowball is going to lead to a HUGE bulky seam when the blocks are made into rows and then the rows connected. If you plan ahead, you could do half to the inside and half to the outside and then stagger them so that the snowballed corners always next and lay flat. You could also press all of the seams open, but that would take more time and they points are harder to match up than if you nest them.

Then again I am a huge stiickler for pressing plans and getting the top as flat as can be...

Or make 4 hst for the corners and sew it like a 9 patch.
