How about a quilted hot water bottle cover?

I always call any quilt smaller than a twin a throw (except for crib or baby quilts), but I don't think that's an official name for it. My grandma called small ones napping quilts but she did not sew or quilt.

I call them runners. So much easier to do seasonal changes when you don't have to change a big quilt.

I'm thinking about the less than full bed quilts. I know some of these have names but I can't remember what they are. What do you call:

    1. The little bed quilts that go at the bottom of the bed that is just extra warmth for you feet?

    2. The quilts that just lay on the top part of the bed. They look nice usually when a person has a solid regular spread already on the bed?

Were any other types of novelty quilts used in days gone by that you don't often see now?
