red color bled into cream color can it be fixed

I make mostly 2 color quilts. I just finished one that is mostly red/cream. I washed it and foolishly left it in the washer over night. The red bled into the cream creating blotchy pale pink. Any clue how to fix this? The quilt is a gift for my son in law. And yes, without looking at it, I dried it. GRRRRR.

https://suzyquilts.com/fix-fabric-bleeds/ I found 2 sites that use this 'recipe'

I'm sure others will chime in soon.

I have had great success washing with Original Blue Dawn and Oxiclean even after drying in dryer.

Do you do this by hand? I'm not sure about putting blue Dawn into my washing machine. I have one of those Maytag eco machines that needs special low suds soap, it's called H.E. Or something like that.

I have a HE machine, Whirlpool not Maytag and I have treated things with Dawn and the washed without problems. I may have just been lucky though. I almost wish it would break, really dislike that machine.

I do it in washing machine, but I do not have a he machine. Just an top loader that is almost 20 years old.

I had the red bleed on the ivory of my Christmas quilt this winter. After many useful suggestions from forum members, I put OxiClean on the ivory areas and in the wash. Also rubbed Dawn on areas. I washed it many times with color catchers until they came out white. Only then did I dry it. It came out ok, even though I had dried it the first time without checking. I had no issue with Dawn as it was rubbed into the fabric -I have an HE machine also.
