The most economical way to use Bluprint / Craftsy

As of today, Craftsy is gone. It has been replaced by Bluprint. I discovered an interesting way to save money using Bluprint, at least for now.

A couple of times now, I've wanted to buy a Craftsy class. I was given the option to pay $40 or to pay $7.99 for the very same class with a one-month free trial of Bluprint. I took the Bluprint option a couple of days ago.

Except that description turned out to be backwards--which was a bit frustrating. The class didn't show up in my class list. The email said, " Welcome to Bluprint ... Unlimited viewings ... Yada, yada, yada." It also said that a one-month subscription includes a single forever class (an annual subscription includes 12 forever classes). They gave me a coupon code, and I used it to buy my forever class.

I then made a calendar entry to cancel my Bluprint subscription in 28 days.

Bottom line, you can buy one Craftsy class for $7.99 each month that you sign up for a Bluprint subscription. And, in effect, you have unlimited previews to decide which class to buy.

I can't imagine this business model will be successful (think QNNTV), but for now this is a super good deal!

After reading from several independent Craftsy shop owners, I'm not impressed with the way Bluprint treated Craftsy folks.

I think you will also find that you have free shipping with Bluprint, with no limit on little you have to spend. About once a quarter I get a coupon for $10 off. I try to find a notion that rarely goes on sale, like Angela Walters rulers, and use the $10 off coupon on that with the free shipping.

I frequently get 24 hour hour advance notice of the Bluprint sales (before it goes out to non Bluprint annual subscribers.)

I'm pretty sure I am at least breaking even with my annual Bluprint subscription.

I do agree that the independent Craftsy owners were treated very poorly.

Thank you for these links. I am appalled by the way Craftsy/Bluprint/NBC has treated their instructors and designers. And I'm quite unhappy about the culling of pattern shops. Craftsy was my go-to place for patterns; now Ill have to jump all over the net.

I recently purchased software called Audials 2019. I find I can capture any video played on my laptop (I couldn't make prior versions of Audials capture Craftsy; might have been my fault). I think I'll be making just-in-case archival copies of my forever classes! Who knows what "improvements" are coming down the pike!

Log in just like you did with craftsy, same user name and password.

Look in the pattern library, they should all be there.

I have the annual subscription now already almost a year. I have been super happy with it. I have been able to purchase kits at 50 percent off. I get a free forever class once a month as well. While I am in these years of truly learning this craft and building my super stash (lol) I will keep it. And with the free shipping the cost per month ends up being minimal. Also I paid the whole year 8n advance which was discounted even more. I think we will find with time, Bluprint will meet our needs.

Thanks for the info. I suppose I should have seen this coming. Craftsy has been doing questionable things for a while now - for example many of their fabric lines are deliberate attempts to mimic fabric designers' styles (e.g. Jinny Beyer, Me and My Sister, and you can't tell me their latest line isn't intended to be a discount Tula Pink collection).
