Does anyone use a AccuQuilt to cut fabric?

I absolutely hate to cut fabric, so normally opt for pre-cuts. I've seen these AccuQuilt cutters at quilt shows and just wondered if they were worth the money or not.
    Any information is appreciated.

My sister has the large electric one. I cut about 3500 circles (to make hexagons) in a few hours. She has made a couple quilts containing over 2000 2 1/2 inch squares - easy-peasy. We've also cut applique pies. Yes, there's some waste, but with careful planning it is minimal.

it's best not to try to put it out with gasoline.

I LOVE my Accuquilt. I have the original "GO" and only a few dies, but use the 2 1/2 inch strip cutter every time I make bindings. I have made a few projects using only the GO and I have to say they piece beautifully. There is rarely any more waste than with a rotary cutter (actually less when you don't use the rotary cutter well....lol), especially when you place it well. I understand the electric one is more sophisticated, but I am still happy with my handle version.

With just one roll through I cut 9 - 2 1/2" binding strips and no elbows!

I love my AccuQuilt. Have one of the originals, where you turn the handle. I cut all my 2 1/2 inch strips for binding, make my own charm packs, cut triangles. And last but not lest, I applique a lot, use my AccuQuilt to cut all different shapes(lots of dies). But Lyndaj was right, can run into some $$$$$.

I ❤ mine! You will not be sorry if you get one. The cuts are very precise.

Re: Does anyone use a AccuQuilt to cut fabric?

One of the ladies at the forum retreat had a hand crank Go that I borrowed. I do like how quick and accurate it makes cuts.

At home, I have a Sizzix that I like to use. Both brands are great. A difference between the Accuquilt dies and the Sizzix dies are the thickness of the dies. The Accuquilt dies will fit into a Sizzix (just add an extra cutting pad). But the Sizzix dies will not fit into the Accuquilt machines because the Sizzix dies are thicker. One thing that you may want to check into is the various dies for each machine to see which one you might use more.

Two of the best things about using the dies is the precision of the cutting and the time that you save cutting out the pieces.

The downside is the dies can be pricey. Generally, you are not allowed to use coupons on the machine or dies at places like JoAnns. But there are sales and sometimes the dies can be found on clearance. Right now Accuquilt is having a 40% off on some of their dies.

Thanks for all the responses. I have the worst time with 2-1/2 strips, so I would probably love it for that. I did get an email that AccuQuilt is having a 40% off sale on some dies. Now just have to decide if I want to invest or not.

You can cut precise strips using a Stripology ruler. The cost is about $55. I LOVE mine.

You can cut much more than strips. I want to do a quilt that requires almost 100 pieces of Drunkard's Path. A stripology ruler isn't going to help that.

I have the Fiskars rotary cutter and ruler combo. I love it for strips and cutting pieces from my strips. The rotary blade last forever. No accidentally hitting the ruler.
