    Personal challenges 2017

    Hi

I have set up a goal for myself this year.

I will learn to make a whole cloth quilt.

I have already begun and have my first practise piece in the machine
I will post picture when it is done.

I find the hardest bit is the design element in the start.

I stared at the fabric for ages without knowing what to quilt.

I drew lots and lots... and I surfed the web.

Finally I find something to drew at my practise pieces that I thought I could fmq.

I will let you know soon how it turned out.

Any tips or good advice is alway welcome

    Have a nice day/evening

    Annika

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

How exciting for you, Annika. I love the look of a whole cloth quilt and have never thought through the process of designing one. There's a lot there to consider. With your FMQ practices I'm certain you can pull this off and make something truly spectacular.

I have made not one but two wholecloth quilts.

The devil is in the details...Ha ha ha ha
But what Annika is trying is commendable and very different from my super simple attempts.

        Thank you!

Here is my first practice pieces.
You can still see the air removable pen I used to mark the design. It will be gone by tomorrow.

I am pretty pleased with it. The hardest part is to decide what to quilt and how to draw what I want.
I guess I will learn that to. :-)

        Thanks for looking

Really pretty. I'm looking forward to what you come up with. And like Sandy said, you have come so far.

Really beautiful, Annika!! There is a craftsy class by Cindy Needham on wholecloth quilts - she is a great teacher (and realllly helpful with 'what' to quilt!).
