    Rotary Cutter Lives Matter

    Good Morning,

I am Mr. Cutter. I am Grampz rotary cutter. I see that my friend seam ripper was able to talk to you wonderful people about loving and respecting seam rippers. Now it is my turn. While Grampz is at his sewing machine doing yet another project I will talk to you good people about we who are taken for granted.

First, it is NEVER our faults you don't cut straight. Grampz is all the time telling Gramz that he thinks his cutter, me!, is messed up. have you ever heard of such hog wash in your life? The ole geezer just can't cut straight plain and simple. will you allow me to tell you a secret? Gramz does most of the cutting for Grampz using me. lol The big bad military man can shoot straight he just can not cut straight. lol

Second, you don't need to stick out your tongue while using me. I know many of you do. Come on admit it you do. The tongue does not help me go any straighter. Your tongue is not a rutter people.

Third, Is there a rule amongst the people that you have to press so hard on us? Lighten up will you? let me grab you and press on you real hard. Oh and don't think it is only men who press hard. There is that grandma in Maryland who darn near killed a buddy of mine from pressing so hard.

Fourth, Will someone please tell Grampz to stop that wretched singing whilst sewing? When he cant find any of us it's because the singing is just too unbearable.

I hope my time with you will help you with your beloved rotary cutters.

PS Rotary Cutters lives matter too!

Seam Ripper & I are trying to have Miss Scissors to come talk with you.

Hi, there!! I'm "Granny Judy's" rotary cutter and I want to yell ABUSE every time she lets me fall off her cutting table. Yes, it nicks my blade and then I can't cut anything where I was nicked. You should hear the words that come out of that mouth of hers.. Shameless Huzzie is all I'm gonna say.

Now I'm taking more abuse as she presses harder and sticks out that tongue... Why can't she just learn to be more careful with me. I'm only a little tool who does a big job for her. I get NO RESPECT!!

Your story just brought tears to my eyes. Grampz has dropped me a time or two also. Since he was in the military his choice of words can make even a sailor blush. But lucky for us he tries real hard not to. You hang in there. Granny Judy I am sure will learn to more gentle with you. If not, go wacky and slice a piece of her skin. hee hee

If you think you 'cutters' have it bad, this 'cutter' was used by my mamm's granddaughter. Do you know how reckless and carefree an 18 year old is - I was afraid she was going to use me to cut her fingers off! Can I be sued for her naive, freewheeling (pun intended) stupidity - for loss of her digits? I gotta talk to a 'degreed cutter'!!! Rotary cutters don't 'assault' folks, folks 'assault' folks - Yes, Rotary Cutters lives Matter!

As Toggpine's cutter, my two little sisters and I would love it if she would remember to slide our covers back on!
Really! Who wants to lay around with their blade hanging out all unprotected? Shameful!

Our working conditions certainly need some improvements too. She has ruts in her cutting mat! RUTS! That thing must be 20 years old! She has nearly worn the grid and the numbers off.
Who gets blamed when threads get skipped during cutting? Not Matt!
Us! She gives us the hairy eyeball first and makes us do the job over. Ugh!

At least we haven't been shipped off to the boat yard with her husband like our poor cousin, 18mm. Her hubby got a gleam in his eye when he saw Toggpine cutting some intricate shapes with our littlest sister. To save her for herself, she found our cousin and gifted her to him! Last I heard, she was cutting masking for paint jobs at the boatyard. Sad.

I think we can all agree, less pressure on us would indeed keep us working smarter not harder.

You poor thing! She actually put you in the hands of a young person? Oh my! The things people do to us! I know this is the Christmas Season and everybody is busy doing Christmas projects but whilst doing their business they should be very careful with us. We are very sharp. Geesh. If I had arms I would try to give you a hug for what she put you through.

Gasp! she lays you down with out the cover? Do you want me to get my cutter friend from the New Jersey area to slice a knuckle for you? And she gave your sister to her DH to take to the boat yard? Gulp. he ... he ... he didn't throw her overboard did he? I am not sure how we cutters can dial a phone but maybe you should call 911. Hey! maybe you will be one of those cop shows on tv or in a book. The Boat Yard and the Missing Sister! it would be a block buster!!

Two blades? oh my poor dear. tsk tsk. I hope it gets better for you. You need to call the hotline for cutter abuse. 899-we-b-sharp is the number.

                      Re: Rotary Cutter Lives Matter

Thankfully, Mr. Toggpine does most of his work on dry land. The EPA gets their boxers in a bunch if paint overspray gets in the water.
Cousin 18 claims the work isn't that hard. She spends more time in the toolbox, hanging with the box cutter and the Xacto knives, than actually cutting. She did say the other boat guys goggled over her rotary blade when she first arrived. She is pretty much only trotted out for special projects.

As for your New Jersey blade, thanks for the offer! We nip her knuckles every now and then, just to remind her we have a safety cover for a reason.
I hope the pressure lets up on you soon.

Oh, Miss C.T. once forgot to put my cover on me, and then knocked me off the table. I taught her a lesson though, well actually I took it out on her big toe.

                        That'll teach her to:
                        1. Put on my safety cover
                        2. Don't drop me, and
                        3. Wear shoes when you're using me - I can be vindictive!

Hello, my name is Mimi (Vickie) Howard and I am an abuser. There I said it. They say the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Well actually the "sewing notions" would say I am the problem. And I am a slow learner, been bit more than once by the uncovered blades (yes they can be vindictive). And I have managed to dull more than a ripper or two! Poor things just lie around nekked, alas there tops were tossed somewhere at some point!

My Martelli rotary cutter is a psychopath! It's already cut me at least 4 times. It lies in wait, looking all innocent..... then it flips itself over when I'm not looking- exposing it's razor sharp blade. I swear I hear it laughing manically when I reach over it for another piece of fabric to cut and slice my skin open from the tip of thumb to the knuckle.

Well I didn't want to name names, but yes... I was attacked more than once by my Martelli. Wonder if that bend in the handle did something to them... bending the brains.. !
