    Recommendation for Quilt/Textile Appraiser

I am in the planning stages of a quilt that will be made for the purpose of being a historical heirloom (components include specialty fabrics, context, Americana, folk art, quilting/textiles medium) -- I have already told my family to NOT wash this quilt when it is completed. I plan to have it appraised when it is completed and store appraisal information both with the quilt and with my end of life directives.

With that being said -- do any of you have a quilt/textile/historical (Americana) appraiser that you would recommend?

I do have contact information for an international appraisal firm, but am seeking more info -- specifically, personal recommendations.

Thanks in advance for any info.
    Blessings, DramaMama

There is a lady on the Antiques Roadshow. I think her last name is Miller. I am certain with a little poking around on the internet, you will come up with the name of her firm. She always does the antique quilts and textiles, not sure if she deals with appraisals of new quilts though. You realize you call in the big dog appraisers they will want a tremendous fee for the appraisal?

Will you be pre-washing all your fabrics and not using starch when making this heirloom? I would recommend washing it once to rid the quilt and thread of the chemicals associated in the making of the fabrics.
Also keep in mind the storage for this quilt. You will want acid free tissue paper and an acid free enclosure of some kind to preserve it best. You will also need to get the quilt out from time to time to breathe.
Blogging ahead.....research in quilting and sewing with a dab of cooking/recipes too.
