For me the fun part is picking the pattern and the fabric for that pattern. But I'm trying really really hard not to think about it.

I make myself have no more than 3 projects started at one time, but I have fabric for a zillion. I love fabric. There is nothing more relaxing or more fun to me than shopping for fabric, well maybe sewing the label on a finished item. I too have fabric in every empty spot I can find, oddly enough my DH supports and enables this addiction. Welcome to quilting.

This is an illness I also have; could I have caught it here??? It's gotten so bad that I'm kind of embarrassed when my FHP (fabric hiding places) are discovered. If I can live long enough to use all of the material I've collected, Guinness Book of Records will have a special place for the oldest person in the world. That'll be me, and I'll probably have lots of company!

Sometimes, though, a project just doesn't go right, or I get bogged down. That is when I have to try really hard to keep myself from starting on something new, and put the troublesome one aside. The thrill of making that first block, especially if it's a new one to me, it's like a drug. Quilter's cocaine.
And I am easily distracted. Not good.

    Re: Terrible Problem!!

After struggling with finishing decades-old UFOs, I have had to discipline myself to work on no more than two projects at any one time. I have a long-term applique project that I work on while watching TV. That one may take me years. I also work on a machine pieced and quilted one at the same time. I take that one all the way to binding before I let myself start another. I got bogged down big time when I lost focus and when I let myself start new stuff before finishing the old. It's SUCH a temptation, however. So many fabrics...so little time!

At this time, I have only three completed tops waiting to be quilted.
Furiously quilting a queen size quilt.
    One quilt - half pieced.

I have made about 74 quilts in four years (will be 76 by the end of this year). I guess it is okay to have a few works in progress.
