Interesting way to stop rulers from slipping

I was looking at some beautiful quilting and one person commented that she sprays 505 on her rulers to prevent slipping. This is an idea I hadn't heard of before and seems like a great alternative to those sandpaper dots. She also posted that she uses GooGone or WD40 to wipe it off when she's done.

I don't have a problem with my rulers slipping but I know some of y'all do. Anyone try this method before?

Haven't tried those. I was in a bind and all I had handy was my Elmers washable school glue ...made some dots right on the ruler and let them dry an hour or so and it worked great. It's a temporary solution, but it sure did work so I could finish my geese that day and the next. They peel off (or fall off in a few days) and leave no marks or residue.

I ended up buying a roll of Invisigrip, love it, doesn't obscure any ruler markings. It only clings, no adhesive, I've peeled it off to wash it and a ruler and it just sticks back on.

The 505 is sure clever!

I put Ruler Magic on mine. It was spendy, but worth it. Goes a loooong way as you don't use much. I have it on the rulers for fmq and it helped a lot!!

I use Nexcare tape on mine. I used to use those clear stick-on dots, but the tape is cheaper and works better.

I love this idea! No toxins in our quilt rooms or the environment to boot! Thanks for a great tip!

To keep my rulers from slipping I use small circles of
sand paper. Works great, just place them around the
back side of your ruler, they are sticky on the back.

Wow what great ideas. I have used the circles but would like to try some of your ideas and see what will work best for me.
