    shopping

I went to pick up a couple of notions yesterday and of course checked out the fabrics. Batiks were priced at $25 to $36 per meter(39inches). Bought my thread and left.

Yup sure is indeed. Layer cakes are around $54 and charm packs around $15.

Yikes! My LQS sells batiks for $9.95/yd. Most of their yardage is $9.95 reg. price. Sometimes they run a sale for 20% off. I think their charm packs are ~$12. Sometimes I can get a layer cake for $35. But I love the "orphan corner", where discontinued bolts are 50% off & FQs are only $1.00.

One of the first things I noticed when I moved to Canada was the price . . . of just about everything. But the price of fabric is super high. Talk about sticker shock!!! It's always worth a trip across the border for fabric. And also one of the reasons I appreciate MSQC-great sales, good prices, low shipping and nice folks. Win, win.
