Sad news in Quillting - Houston

I just read the face book post for Quilters Apothecary. For those who don't know who this is, it is Jamie Wallen's longarm business. He's teaching classes at Houston Festival, and his trailer with all of his supplies for his booth, his quilts and customer quilts (that he was delivering to customers at Festival) was stolen last night from his hotel. What a bummer. I would be so heartbroken to have sent my precious quilt to him and have this happen. Reminds me of the post in the past week or so (memory fails me) where some show quilts were stolen.

On a good note, I had a great time at Market yesterday.

I hope they find his trailer, it's contents and the thugs who took it.

What a shame! I feel so bad for them losing all their supplies and quilts. I feel their heartbreak and pray that they recover the trailor. Let's all pray for them!

WHY do people not use simple trailer tongue locks? It would stop tragedies such as this.

What a tragedy. Those are precious, precious quilts, and some crook just took them. I so hope the trailer is recovered as abandoned when the crooks realize they stole "blankets." No one that cruel could recognize the value of what he has.

This is so disgusting. Why do people do things like this. Hope they find it and all the quilts.

That's despicable and sad people take things from people trying to make a living.

KARMA, they will get what's coming to them (the thieves). I saw this on Facebook earlier also. Despicable.
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!

So true! This is the big city, after all. You have to take precautions. I live in the burbs and am always conscience when I go into the city that I ain't in Kansas anymore.

What a senseless tragedy! They thieves probably didn't even know or care what was in the trailer - they just wanted the trailer. My parents were on their way to Gulf Shores a few years ago and were held at gun point in Mississippi. The guy had been out of prison FOUR DAYS! Thankfully they weren't physically hurt but the guy took all their money, credit cards, vehicle and all their luggage and stuff for a two-week vacation. Police later recovered the car in a chop shop and a pile where the guy (and fellow criminals) had burned all their belongings. All they wanted was the vehicle - and the money. I pray these people that stole this trailer would at least spare the quilts because I'm sure they weren't really after them! Here's to hoping they find them soon!

It's truly heartbreaking to see the video he posted about this loss.

I hope they find the crooks.

I was wondering if he had a lock on it!

According to the news articles online, he had three locks on it. It sounds like he did all he could to keep it safe, even parking his vehicle tight against it. The only other thing he could have done was remove the tires. Wow!

Sad part is, whoever the thief is probably had no idea what he was stealing. I remember several years ago when this was happening to people who would stop for the night when moving.
