    stitch regulator

I have a Crescendo and love it, although I am getting much better at FMQ and my stitches are looking somewhat consistant my DH asked if I was considering/interested in getting the stitch regulator for it. Does anyone have and use one for their machine either the Crescendo or another machine? Would you recommend one?

Procrastinate. It frees up time to quilt!

    Re: stitch regulator

I have a Crescendo. I didn't know there was a stitch regulator for it. I had a stitch regulator for a Bernina. It was the 640. I found that I often would "out run it". I didn't enjoy it. I have found that I don't worry about all my stitches being the same length. Many of the fmq teachers say they don't worry about it either. Most of the time my stitches are even but after my quilt is finished and washed, the stitches don't really show that much, especially if you use thread that matches or blends. This is just my opinion.

I just researched the Tru Stitch for the Crescendo. I have seen this stitch regulator before. It requires a magnet or the coaster be attached to the bed of your machine. I have seen these before and in my opinion would get in the way, especially when quilting a large quilt. I will be interested how you like it if you get one.

A stitch regulator was an option when I bought my Baby Lock Tiara II LA. I did not buy it. I already was comfortable with FMQ on my DSM & didn't feel the need for a regulator. If you can learn to do the FMQ without the regulator, I think you'll enjoy the process a lot more.

I have a stitch regulator with my Bernina 710. I really like it but I guess that's because I'm still very new to fmq and it's just one less thing for me not to worry about whilst I'm still learning. I have heard other accomplised fmq'ers say they don't use their Stitch Regulators much.

I have stitch regulator that Babylock sells with the Aria machine, which is the same one you will need I think. I am not a whizz at FMQ but doing better each time I work on it. I think the regulator is a big help and it is not hard to use. Actually, I think it is really clever and fun.
