Does anybody know what shibori is? Is it like batiks? That is, is it harder to quilt through like batiks? The colors are nice, good selection of blues. Just wondering cuz I never heard of shibori before. TY.

I think it's more like tie dye. https://www.seamwork.com/issues/2015/08/shibori-dyeing
The deal caught my eye too. I haven't bought fabric in so long and I'm really tempted!🌺 Lorie

From the DD description -"Shibori is a resist dyeing technique used to create beautiful patterns on fabric."
Batik is usually wax resist, at least true batik is. Lorie is probably right in saying this is more like tie dye.K is for Karen 😊 Albuquerque, NM..................

I - is it INSPIRING?
N - is it NECESSARY?

Shibori is a method of dyeing fabrics using various folding techniques. You begin with a basic white cotton fabric. Sometimes it is done on hemp or silk. I was raised in Japan and these patterns are each unique and beautiful, the process very interesting to watch. The DD is probably cotton as it is a Moda product. As the DD brought back so many memories, I am tempted to pull the trigger on this DD. Have a safe and fun weekend everyone

Re: Shibori? Today's DD -Sat.
I love to do Sashiko and I love indigo fabrics, so that DD really got me excited! However, we just got back from Shipshewana the week before last and my husband not only gave me carte blanche with the credit card, but even did a little enabling :
ME: I don't know if I should get two or four yards of this...
DH: Go ahead and get four. It's really nice and you know you'll use it for something.
But I think if I were to continue the fabric buying spree, he'd probably be trying to wrestle my credit card away from me!
There is a woman that has an Etsy shop called KimonoMomo that sells Sashiko supplies and Japanese textiles. She also has some You Tube videos where she talks about the different types of Japanese fabrics, and I believe she did one on Shibori. Very interesting.Last edited by SherylM; October 8, 2016, 10:47 AM.Sheryl

I'm looking at solids to go with it's right now. Definitely a green, earthy, but I'm having a very hard time deciding and would go to a LQS if they had such a wide selection. I think I'll just gamble here or get some 1/4 yard samples. I haven't seen this in person but I believe it's just like any other Moda standard quilting cotton. Just think of it as an ordinary print, not batik.
I adore Japanese design, it's so intricately refined down to the essence of color and design. They got me on this DD. I was going to get the new Tula Pink for a twin quilt I'm about to make, but this won me over. And I only need one layer cake, so what a deal!

I bit... and bought this one. Am collecting fabrics for a blue & gold Mariner's compass quilt for my son. He has HIS big boat and needs a quilt that reflects his taste. I don't think I can get one done this Christmas.. but am working at it.Judy
