    Mixing Balis with Kona

Hi all, I would like to use Bali Darks Layer Cake to make Jenny's Hunters Star quilt. Would it work if I used Kona Cotton as a background? I wonder what will happen whenever it gets washed? Thank you for any advice.

I would recommend washing it after it's quilted and put several color catchers in the wash with it.

That's what I did when I used black kona in a tumbler quilt. There was no white but a lot of yellow that did not turn gray but those color catchers were charcoal color. My mother-in-law was really impressed. I used her front loader since I have an agitator in my washer.

Thank you Vonnie, I will do that. Was just worried about mixing cotton with batik.

I mix cotton with batiks all the time. No problems between the fabrics. I also use color catchers when I wash my quilts.
