Should I order and should I make it in separate orders?

Yeah, I have been hired to design a quilt, piece it and quilt it. We have agreed on a price. Now, MSQ has the fabric I need but I am hearing how long it is going to take to get the yardage. I need to have it here to start my project. Should I just order it somewhere else. I don't really want to do that but I also don't want to wait 4 weeks.
Also, since I need, backing, fabric and yardage and some precuts, should I order them separately in order to get a couple of golden tickets? (that's kind of a greedy thought isn't it?)

I thought the golden ticket thing was over.
    Congrats on your quilt order/sale.

There are no more golden tickets. I placed order on Labor Day Monday and received yesterday. But there was no yardage.

I ordered yardage on Sept 3rd and got it on the 9th. Of course it all depends on what they have in inventory. I don't know if customer service can pull up the info on a certain fabric but it would be worth a call.

Don't worry about being greedy - there are no more Golden Tickets.

I would give them a call and explain the situation. Maybe you can work something out. Congratulations on your quilt order!

You need to use your business mind for this one. Call the different places you'd shop from and find out who can get it to you the quickest, and best price considering shipping. It'd be easiest for record keeping purposes to keep it on one bill instead of splitting it up.

M* is not going to be sad or hurt for business by you shopping where you need to. I've related this before; I needed a lot of a print they were out of and they didn't email me back until a week later and I'd already sourced it elsewhere, M* response was so sweet and hoped my project went well even though they didn't sell me the fabric and yada yada ...they won my next fabric purchase by being so nice (and next, and next, etc.).

That's really awesome that you got a commission! I hope we get to see pics of it!

Well, I guess I just waited too long. I thought the golden ticket thing was still happening. I will just order what I have planned then. The customer gave me a 50% deposit today of $250 to cover the materials and we agreed on the balance when I finished. She wants lady bugs and white so I am going to do the alter ego. ladybugs and white in the 4 patch and lady bugs and white in the HST's. White backing. She is one of the Shriners wives and says she is crazy for white! She wants it 108x95. I hope I am figuring yardage right...8 yds of each should do it I think.
