Quilting definitely helps ease stress and worries. Thanks for posting.

It's interesting to see how "Mindfulness" is so hot right now. We crafters have been meditating for years and didn't even know it!

I started quilting when a loved one was in the hospital and there was nothing I could do to help. I could judge my stress level by the number of times I would sew things wrong side together. My seam ripper got a LOT of use that week. Not that it doesn't get a lot of use every day!

I stArted quilting just six weeks before my adult son fell 46 feet through a skylight on a roof he was working on. That was May 2014. I divided my days between hospitals/rehab facilities and my new sewing room for eight months. Miracles do happen. He's working again, you'd never know what he's been through to look at him walking down the street. Yes, walking! And I'm still quilting! That article was wonderful!

I"m so sorry to hear what happened but you are right, sometimes miracles do happen. At least we think they have to be miracles. Wonders are a good thing. (())

Best stress relief for me is to mindlessly sew some scrappy strip blocks. It also helps me use up leftover fabric pieces too big too discard.

Thank you for sharing this article. I work at a homeless shelter for the chronically homeless, currently abusing drugs, and violent felons. I am going to try to incorporate some creating into the work I do there. This is really good info. -Diana

As long as I'm focusing on
making my blocks, I'm totally unanimousl, and that's why I like to hand piece, because, I find it the best stress reliving, It keeps my hands busy, and my thoughts calm, when I get in the rhythm, it is like magic....... well .....when ,
One with a needle in her hand BETTER pay attention to what she is doing, right.......lol.

The best projects , by far , are the gifts, I make with love in every stich. .......there is the gift of giving, I honestly can't put into words, but , when I get down , I seek out someone to lift up......Im serious when I tell you, you can't get this feeling any other way, it is the best medicine, ever. I have had trouble Piecing (hands have arthritis ) and I can tell my nerves need, some sew time....Accupucter next week, then hopefully I can get in a lil sew therapy.......

All of us quilters new this already didn't we? When I'm working on a quilt I lose track of time. It also relaxes and energizes me at the same time.
