After checking the calendar at work and seeing that NO ONE had the time slot I wanted/needed, I filled out my Time Off Request form at work to be off for the quilt show and commit to helping with committees on October 13th and 14th....guess what? Denied! My boss asked me if my time off request was for something important, then an exception might be made? I just hung my head and decided to make the sacrifice again (this is the third time this year my time off request has been conflicted with the boss's vacation plans).....

I guess it's more important that my boss (who gets at least 3 weeks vacation per year) is taking off early on the 13th to attend a Luke Bryan concert. Guess how many vacation days I've taken this year.....1.
I am not happy!!!!

Think I would have a talk with the boss or his boss and ask why your requests are being denied. Explain that you have only had 1 vacation day off this year and ask, "If I can't use my vacation days will I get paid for them anyway?"
If that doesn't help take the days off as sick days. No one can prove you don't have the flu and if your doc is like mine, he will sign any note for work.
If this behavior continues you might need to go talk to the fair labor board and see what your options are. I took one of my bosses to the fair labor board and won. (And then I married him)
