I visited my most favourite fabric shop on Monday - only get to visit once or twice a year. Anyway I saw this lovely fabric - 5 different patterns and threw a metre of each in my basket with no particular objective in mind. Now I can't work out a pattern for it - decided to make a quilt for the spare bed 78 x 78 inches. All ideas would be gratefully accepted.

Re: Fabric shopping
Mary, If you do a search on "take 5 quilt patterns" you will find a lot. I know there are two books that were titled something like "Take 5" and "More Take 5". They were all quilts that used 5 different yards of material. But, if you don't mind doing a little math - or ask someone here to help with math - you could probably figure out the cuts without having to buy a pattern. If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.- Zig Ziglar

Re: Fabric shopping
Okay DramaMama, 4 are from Benatex - all different collections and 1 is an unknown. The fabric shop doesn't always get full collections which is why it is so cheap - £5 per metre (39 inches long) with Christmas fabrics on offer at £4 per metre. However they do stock Kona solids so could go back and match up but didn't really want to buy more!!
Sylvia, that's a good idea, will trawl through the internet and come back with my findings. Ask using my phone at the mo bcos GS is on the WiFi at present!!

Re: Fabric shopping
I love that shop Mary. Unfortunately we didn't holiday in Yorkshire this year so I haven't made my annual trip. My sister is heading to Scarborough in September though so hopefully she'll be able to go in and spend on my behalf........
You really do have to go at the beginning of your holiday so you have a chance to think about what you've bought and still have time to back to get more.Last edited by Bouse; August 26, 2016, 04:43 AM.

Re: Fabric shopping
Hi Bouse, that's exactly what I've done. Have been back this morning and got a plain and yellow & white to go with the original fabric. And oops 10 metres of backing fabric feel into my basket - well at £2 per metre it would have been rude not to. Debenhams had 20% off knitwear so win win!
