Nope! Never heard of this. If there's a Smart & Final near you that's probably going to be a better buy for purchasing it. I assume they still sell large bottles of Cream of Tartar. It might be great for getting the yellow out of old linens that we purchase at thrift stores. I imagine it's easier on the fibers than using bleach. I was wondering what it is exactly. According to a website I googled "it's an acid— specifically, tartaric acid. It's a byproduct of wine production, the residue left on the barrels, actually."

Not sure what you need to whiten, but I bought some Retro-Clean from MSQ to launder and brighten up some hand crocheted table cloths and runners made by my grandmothers. I couldn't find it right now, but here's a link to the product for some info. Eleanor Burns has a short video on this site.

Not sure yet. I still have to go get the items and soak them in a tub outside in the sun. I'll let you know how it works.

I whiten white clothes with 1cup baking soda &1 cup hydrogen peroxide. Mixed together in the washer with just enough hot water to cover the clothes, soak overnight ,rinse, wash regular.... works very well...... great job on grungy soaks Altered the mixture of soda &peroxide and whitened some very old doll clothes. No harm to anything. Kathy
