Quilting related by hand (but not hand quilting)

Got any ideas for a person to kill time quilting related while away from a sewing machine (ie: waiting rooms, etc.)

I like to surf on my iphone and fabric shop, read quilting blogs, or this forum. I also keep a little note pad and doodle pattern ideas and FMQ designs.

A lot of us enjoy doing English paper piecing because it's very portable and enjoyable.

I'm doing a Farmer's Wife quilt as a hand sewing project.

Pinterest of course! Also two of my favorite websites celebrate hand quilting, and Kathleen Tracy's Small Quilts, both are on Facebook.

I work on designing or planning out quilts, hand piecing, or currently, I am taking apart the left over scraps from a project that I did to so I can cut the leftovers into new blocks. I take a small bag/box with me to keep the mess contained. A friend of mine takes applique blocks or embroidery blocks to work on while she is waiting.
