Free Motion Quilting

Can anyone recommend a good instructional book on free motion quilting for a beginner? I have tried free motion quilting, but I am not satisfied with my results. I need help. Thanks.

I'm a beginner too. There are lots of videos that show the actions involved. I don't know of any books, but I bet if you google it you will find several. And be sure to get the machingers or similar gloves. They make a world of difference in how well you can maneuver the quilt sandwich under your darning foot.

sigh...I crossed to the "dark side" and use the BSR with my Bernina. Fluid movement is still a challenge for me but at least the BSR keeps my stitches all uniform....bless it's little clever computer thingy!

Thanks everyone for the help. I have watched several You Tube videos on free motion quilting, but I need a book to keep referring back. I checked on Amazon for the 2 books recommended, and read the reviews. I like the book "First Steps to Free Motion Quilting" by Christini Cameli. I have done quilting but in the straight line form, and want to advance to the next step. Maybe this will be a help and encouragement.

There already are posts on this Forum which address this issue. See my posting on Nov. 29, 2014 entitled "FMQ Books I Recommend." I don't know how to do the link, but you can use the search box. There probably are other posts as well. With all the FMQ tutorials on YouTube, you should be able to make a good start. If possible, take a class (in person) with a qualified instructor. That will be a big help.

I have always only FMQ as a walking foot is too costly for me. Curious, though, what is "BSR"

Go to Amazon and search for Dot to Dot Quilting Books. Those are pretty good!
