    Singer S16

Okay, I bit the bullet and bought the Singer S16 today. Amazon has it for $369.49 and I could no longer resist! I had been thinking about visiting the Janome and Brother dealers and see about trading in my Husqvarna Sapphire in on one of their straight stitch machines. Thedealers are well over 100 miles away and I know they'd never give me enough for my Sapphire to come close to matching this deal. I can't wait until Monday! Woo hoo!

You and me both. I have been watching the price drop over the past week or so, just waiting for them to drop below $400. This machine should be great for bag-making and then I can let my Pfaff take a rest. I like my Pfaff as a travel machine and I would really be ticked if I killed it by making bags. It is old, works great, but if something major happens it may not be able to be repaired because the electronic parts aren't made anymore.

I love mine. It sews bags with leather and vinyl like a hot knife through butter. It is pretty much the only machine I use anymore

You all know how I feel about mine! Love it, love it. I haven't found one thing it won't sew through. And the price is great!

Hey Jean, didn't you say you bought some extra feet for yours someplace? I'd like to get a couple and wondered where you got yours.

I don't know if it's a high or low shank machine, but check Ebay. You can get new feet for great deals there. It's where I bought my extra ones for Walter....and nice thing is they also fit on Jack!!

I bought my extra feet at Wawak, some as low as $3. They are high shank. The one I like the best is the narrow foot with the needle hole on the left. I'll find a picture.

$2.56. Can't beat that! It also comes in Teflon to sewing cording with vinyl and leather.

This must be an awesome machine.... I'm very much tempted to "think" about it.... Where are they available?

Amazon.com. Or Singer.com. Amazon runs a special ever so often for under $400. Then the price goes back up to around $800.

It is a Janome 1600 clone.

Don't have the Singer, I have a Juki, but I just wanted to put in my 2 cents about your original post. Deb, you can never have too many woohoos when you get a new sewing machine, imo.

Great price! I got mine from the Singer site for $410. I tried it once but had a lot of trouble as it kept coming unthreaded as I started to stitch. I tried many different things - rethreading, checking bobbin, tension, etc. I needed to get some projects done so got my reliable Brother one out. I still need to take the time to troubleshoot it some more. I do like the machine as it is heavy, very sturdy and rugged. The threading, bobbin, and needle threader are much more challenging than my Brother but I'm sure in time it will be old hat.
