    Machine woes

My main machine is a Singer Quintet. I got it mainly for embroidery. It's a temperamental machine but it's been a good machine for me. It was the most machine I could get for the money I had to spend. I had plans to spend all weekend sewing, well in between holiday gatherings. I wanted to embroider bath towels for an upcoming wedding gift and finish up a car seat cover for one of my grandbabies.

Well, the machine had other ideas. I got one bath towel done and about 3/4 through the second when I started getting a thread break error. There wasn't a thread break. It would go about 15-20 seconds before it would stop again. I tried regular sewing too and I still get the error message. I've done all the troubleshooting I know of, got on my FB Singer group, googled and came up with nothing. So she has to go to the shop for repair.

I started feeling a little sorry for myself, but not for long...I dug out my trusty old Kenmore and decided to work on something for me for a change. I spend a good part of the weekend working on a Christmas crazy quilt. It's taking longer than I thought, but it is so relaxing working on it.

So the machine going to the shop on Thursday (my day off). Fortunately the shop is less than an hour away and he's only a week out so I shouldn't be missing her too long.

I decided to look at the bright side, my machine was overdue for a checkup/cleaning and I'm getting to work on a fun project just for me...yes, yes, I know I could be working on the car seat cover, but I took this as a sign it was time for me to just play!

I'd bet you have some lint stuck in somewhere. That's great for error messages.

I would be surprised if that's all it is. I've taken it apart and thoroughly cleaned it at least 4 times! I've flossed the tension disc with unwaxed dental floss too. Of course with my luck that's what the repair guy will tell me it was!

Hope they get it fixed and back to you quickly. A sewing project just for you is good though we all need one of those now and then!
