    AL Doan Lecture

Thought some of you might be interested in this lecture Al gave at the Marriott School of Management. I had to chuckle when he told how they parted ways with Quilting Quickly. We all know who the "other company" was. (I think that part is at about 20 minutes.) Take a look and give your review.

    You just gotta love him!

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

Aaawwwwwwwww, his mom and dad did such a fine job of raising him. He has such genius! I did not know the story of block magazine. I feel so scandalously informed!
Blogging ahead.....research in quilting and sewing with a dab of cooking/recipes too.

Loved listening to him tell his story. They are an amazing family. Great roots. Would really like to hear him speak in person. Maybe someday. Maybe we can him to speak during a cruise

That was very interesting - he certainly has a lot of charisma (which I'm sure he gets from him mom!).

I like how he mentions that part of their success is owed to building a relationship with the customer. That relationship is built with things like learning from Jenny each week down to real small stuff like the hand-written thank you I get on order invoices sometimes. I love that! MSQC is a company with heart.

Al is a hoot. I liked the part about whether or not they were happy still. I wondered about all of that as they have grown as a company, and that their incomes have grown ... ALOT...I think they are for the most part. I do know they still treat us like we are family when we are there. I got my hug from all of them, and Jenny even sat on the sofa at the new main shop and chatted with me and my GD when we were there last month. As long as they still have that next door neighbor feel about them...they still have me hooked. If they ever lose that, I will be very disappointed.

You are do right... M* is a company with "heart", and it shows in so many ways...

When I first discovered M*, in December of 2012" I called a couple if times....to report how much I was enjoying Jenny's tutorials... I got Al, both times... He took the time to talk with me, each time I called... His enthusiasm for what his family was doing was very clear.

M* understands that it's the personal touch that creates customer loyalty... We love them....because we feel included in the fun... Al has flown in the face if conventional business wisdom, and won.... We're all winners... And Jenny is the heart of it all... Her warmth, her enthusiasm, her genuine happiness at providing something so special, is captivating... We, the customers, feel included in the fun.... We know we have been a part of something truly phenomenal... A business that actually cares about its customers...

I think people recognize sincerity and genuine caring...and respond to those things... With loyalty....and customer loyalty is priceless..
