Re: Bag making
The best ways to find stuff is to join groups. Craftsy classes can be good too. Look to your favorite pattern designers, they often have Facebook groups or great blogs. Two I like are CloBird Designs on Facebook, the people in that group find the best resources for zippers and such, it's amazing. Joan Hawley of Lazy Girl designs sells her preferred interfacing and such on her website, she also mentions a lot of supplies in her Craftsy classes.
Tons more out there of course. I find it's a lot easier to go this route than randomly asking when I'm stuck in the middle of a project.

Re: Bag making
I buy some on Ebay, some on Amazon, certain items from Emmaline (they are in Canada, but w/the exchange rate, it's a great deal). I am lucky that there is a store up in Seattle that sells a lot of hardware. I get my slides for about 25c and D rings anywhere from 5c for half inch on up.pat.
