I skipped to the end to see a different color. I miss when they did that. Way to dark for me.

I agree it is to dark. I tried to find a lighter quilt on google but the blocks didn't look the same. Is it just me?

Many of the google images are lighter and there are some much less scrappy. I think I would like it with fewer colors so,the block is more defined. Easy one to do though.

Looks interesting! I think I might try it. Yes, in lighter colors!

In the early tutes she usually showed a second quilt, that's what I meant.

I did the same thing Lori - I skipped to the end to see if she had a sample in lighter colors.

I like this one, but it's too dramatic (color-wise) for my taste. I think I might give it a go in some lighter colors though.

Pretty, but my first thought was, it was too dark.

I thought it looked very dramatic. I liked it much better than the Old Susanna blocks on google, but I think it's the sashing and cornerstones that make it pop. I have some reproduction fabric that I'm thinking would like nice in this pattern with burgundy sashing.

Yep! Another one to add to my loooong list!
And I actually do like the dark contrast.
Maybe black with some batiks. Ooh, yes.

I love dark quilts but I'd really like to see this one in lighter colors as well. It's interesting when googling this block to see variations. It can also be made with half-square triangles instead of snowballing the corners. "Quilt Blocks Galore" shows it made with partial seaming which eliminates having that center square broken up with so many seams. A very interesting block. I think what makes Jenny's so unusual looking is the sashing. http://www.quilterscache.com/S/SusannahBlock.html
