Hoot Hoot - The Cut Before THE Cut

Happy hooting, night owls. When I'm working late at night, like tonight, I always try to do "one more". I usually figure out after I made a bad cut or two that I'm too tired to be accurate. Seems like I don't know when to stop the cut before the cut that ruins a piece. Tonight, I did it! I wanted to keep going, but I set down my rotary cutter and walked away. Now, I don't know for sure if that cut (or the one after) would be THE cut, but I'm tired and I'm going to bed. Good night fellow quilters. It's been a good day.
One yard of fabric, like one cookie, is never enough!

Good for you! I found out a long time ago that my accuracy....never the best, anyway, was bound to be off if I worked into the night..,

Hoot hoot there really isn't much happening in my end of the forest now.Good for you knowing when to stop,I never cut at night time because I don't do it very good.My family took ne out to dinner tonight for my Bday(I'm getting old).We went to Texas road house,I love the bread there. After that we came hom and my Girlfriend came over so we could have cake ,but I was so full already it almost didn't fit.

I've gotten into the habit of only cutting during daylight. Tried doing it at night but found the artificial light casts a shadow along my ruler and more than once I've found the cuts I made were off by about 1/16th".

I was supposed to have surgery on my ear today. Disappointed that the plastic surgeon decided against it. He feels the ache in my ear is not caused by the prior surgery scar ... but actually may be an otic nerve injury. So an ENT referral is the next step. This problem affects my sleep - and that affects my mood. Hope to find a good specialist in Chicago - I will NOT delay my trip!

Hope y'all have a great day - and special thoughts go out to Togpine ......

Ugh...I did the "wrong" cut just the other day! Thankfully, I only just started the cut, about a 1/2" before I thought I should double check the width. Yup...I was starting the cut 2" short! I re-measured and made the correct cut...now I have 4 1" slits in my sashing. I figure I'll iron Presto to the back to keep it together and then stitch it up once I figure out where it hits on the quilt. I was so mad at myself. Lesson learned on cutting/quilting when tired.
