    Re: Sizzix Big Shot Machine

I have the Big Shot that I bought for paper crafting. This one goes under the heading....things I have bought and wished I hadn't. Haven't tried it for fabric, but knowing how much paper you waste using it, I am hesitant to try it with fabric. If I need 4" squares, I can cut a dozen with rotary cutter and ruler than 1 with the Big Shot. Save your money for something worthwhile....like more fabric.

You can also check on craig's list for someone wanting to get rid of the one they have. If you find one, usually a great savings and they have dies also at a very reduced cost.

I might suggest you look at the Brother Scan and Cut. That's what I purchased, and have been very happy with it. No dies, and if you have a embroidery machine that uses PES it can talk to it. I use it for applique, and its great.

Look at the Accuquilt also. It is similar to the Big Shot and the dies are more quilt focused. As with the Big Shot - it is the dies that can get really expensive.

Thanks for the advice. I will look into it more as Christmas approaches. Oh just googled and saw the price of the dies. No doubt I can find something else to get for Christmas if I decided not to get this. lol

You will enjoy your Big Shot.
I have the Big Shot as well and I bought a 4" square die.
The dies can be costly if you plan to buy a lot of them, so understand that up front.
It does save an awful lot of time and the cuts are accurate.

Just remember you have to buy dies and they can be expensive. I suggest loking over thr Sizzix website to see if they have what you'd like.

I've had a Big Kick (smaller version of Big Shot Pro) for years for paper crafting and now buy the odd die for fabric. I mostly use it for hexies.
