She started sewing it on her Spring Break Visit, worked on it during her after school was out in June visit, and finished it on New Years Eve.
On my last visit I took her a sewing desk and chair that I reuphostered to match her room - getting ready for the big reveal!

I think it is great what you are doing for her. I wish I would have had a grandmother growing up that would have spent the time with me teaching me something. Reading your thread made my day!

What a beautiful quilt. I bet in years to come she will still have all the tools her Grandma started her off with, a very lucky girl.

Would you be so kind as to send me your address and I'll send you a charm pack or two for your wonderful grand-daughter. I think it is so wonderful for your quilting to now be multi-generational. You are both so lucky to have found a great connection to build into her adult years.

That is wonderful. Will be doing that myself in the next couple of years! (so that means we can get new machines, right????)

that sounds like such a nice idea for her birthday. if you give her that machine will she still be able to sew with you when she visits? i wish i had a grandparent or someone that would have shown me neither of my grandmothers did sew.

I admire you for doing this! I wish I had gotten mine interested when they were little. I bought them both a machine recently with the intention of teaching them while I was home. They are in their twenties and seems to be very busy doing other things. They say they want to learn but then they don't make any time for me to teach them. Maybe one of these days.

Rebecca, don't give up on them. My 40 year old daughter just recently became interested and it all started with she could not find curtains for her front window. She bought material, bought a machine, googled, and she made her curtains. Of course, through all this we were on facetime a lot. But now she has the bug to sew. Not quilting, but she is already trying to hide her fabric purchases from hubby lol. She calls it her secret addiction. She has been stuffed toys. I am trying to get her to try a a table runner or placemats, but no go for the moment. Time will tell. But she now loves it.
