Needle breaking on my Brother SE 350

So I have made about 3 complete quilts and working on the fourth one. The last few times I have finsihed a quilt and had my quilting foot on (I am pretty sure that's what it's called) my needles are breaking. Does anyone else have this problem? I think the vibrations and the arm of the foot it is loosening my needle, causing it to break maybe? Just wanted to see if this is common or I am doing something wrong.

I have a 350 too. It could be your tension maybe or even the type of needle you are using. Or the thread.
I'm a big help, aren't I? I would check the thread and how it's threaded thru the machine. I remember one time that my needles were breaking cause I had threaded the machine wrong. I took out the book and followed it exactly a few times. The presser foot has to be UP while threading thru the top areas, and then DOWN when threading the needle. I'm pretty sure that's the way it goes - of course I haven't touched my machine since March, so take a glance through the book to make sure.

Could the needle be in wrong? Sounds like it might be hitting something. Trish is correct with threading the thread correctly. That can cause problems too.

I don't have a brother, however on my singer if I am really moving the vibrations sometimes loosen the needle. I have had them come loose while I am sewing. Now I check the needle every so often.

        Just a thought.

i have a janome dc1050 and my walking foot loosens the screw that holds the needle in ! weird. lady at sewing center where i purchased the it said she never heard of that happening. so now i check it often and tighten when necessary when using the walking foot.

i found that several times the needle just got loose and awful sounds were made and things vibrated firecely ! scared the heck out of me as this is a new machine (3 months old !!)
