    Beach Bag advice

I have made a couple of bags following Jenny's tutorial, but would like to make my GD a beach bag for Easter. I plan on stuffing it with a beach towel, sunscreen, flip flops, etc.
Can anyone recommend a pattern, or approximate measurements they may have used, using an larger interpretation of Jenny's tutorial?

Maybe one like this? Can't you 'wing' it??

That's super fun! I'm surprised to see a free pattern.

My daughter has one I really like, her mil made it with the "Charms" bag tutorial, she used 12 or 16 charms and a larger bottom. Bright colored charms really makes it eye catching.

I made this simple bag for the beach last year. Each pinwheel is a 13" square, so my bag came out about 26"x26". I made the pinwheels, sewed four into one large square, one for the front and one for the back. I quilted both front and back then sewed them together. After that I made a lining, then sewed that to the bag.

          Not difficult at all.

This is a picture of the ones we made in class the bottom is a plastic mesh so sand and water can get out and not create mold by the time you get home. It holds a beach towel, swim suit and some sunscreen, a book and a drink easily.june classes 002.jpg

Sue, Did you watch Jenny's tutorial where she made a large bag from jellyroll strips? That would be large enough for a beach bag and it has a large pocket on the outside.

I didn't catch that one, Barb, but I'll look now!
                Thanks, chica!

I like that you can buy the mesh in different colors. A mesh bag would be a really cute beach bag.

                    I found it!

How did I miss this one?
I LOVE the idea of using mesh, but would like to stick with stuff I have on hand, since time is a-wasting....
I'll definitely keep that tip in mind for the future though, April!
I think I'll blend the two tutorials. I like the idea of pockets in the lining...
                    Thanks, guys!

I've made just a basic tote with a strip of pet screening thru the middle for ventilation. If you position the strip low enough it will allow sand to filter out, too.
