When you upload embroidery designs to your machine do you need the computer or would an external hard drive work?

I think that depends on your machine. I have to use a dongle and reader card that fits into my Brother to transfer designs from the computer to the machine.

I just looked at my external hard drive, it doesn't have the correct usb connect.

I can directly connect to a computer or use a usb. I do the usb because my computer is a desktop, and downstairs.

Mine is USB - I work with the designs on my laptop and put them on the USB when I'm ready to use them

Mine won't take the flat usb. I just wanted to use my external hard drive instead of taking my computer to my craft room.
