What is your least favorite part of quilting ?

I'm sure this has been asked before.... But, I'd like to know if there are parts of quilting you could live without.

I'll go first.

I really don't like sandwiching anything bigger than a baby or crib quilt. I'm just barely 4ft. 10in., so handling large amounts of fabric and batting is not fun.... I get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of fabric/batting I have to deal with. That's why I don't make too many larger quilts.

I 'm not a great machine quilter, either.... I always dread that moment when it is time to start quilting.. STID is hard for me, so I am exploring other ways to do straight line, or wavy quilting. My new Brother Simplicity has some interesting stitches I want to try. I'm practicing my FMQ, too.

Binding is the worst part for me. I think I have 3 quilts all quilted and patiently waiting for the binding fairies to come and visit....I think they lost my address.

Even tho I sew it on by machine I'm still not a big fan of binding. It's just this long never ending stitch around the whole quilt and then you flip everything and do it again.

Making the quilt sandwich. For large quilts I have been using the floor. But, I have high blood pressure and my head feels like it's going to fall off it hurts so bad by the time I have finished. Plus, my knees can't take me crawling around on the floor so I have to bend over - a lot!

Before I do another large quilt, I plan to go to Lowe's and buy some of the fold up tables and use them. I'm thinking 4 should do it. I'm sure my DH would not mind since I might let him borrow them as long as he doesn't ruin them.

Any hand quilting- my stitches are horrible. I also do not like putting on borders and that I do very well. Just don't like it. I bought a book on pieced borders, maybe I will like that better. Also bought a book about quilts without borders.

I love piecing tops but hate the thought of the sandwiching them together. I found a gal who FMQ them for me at a very reasonable price and she does a wonderful job.

My least favorite part is cleaning my sewing room!! It is always a disaster. I clean it up and somehow it gets messy with every project!

Adding borders. Don't know why but I always seem to set it aside when I get to that point.

My least favorite part of quilting is anything that requires me to crawl around on the floor and get up and down again and again. I don't have room for large tables and I can only so do much on our bed. So, it's not the task but where I have to do it.

Cutting the pieces for blocks terrorizes me to no end. I haven't put a binding on yet or even sandwiched a quilt, so that is subject to change.

Oh how I would love to hqve someone sandwich my quilts. I can pretty much handle the rest. And not dond at all about putting labels on.
