I missed if you updated on how well you like your new machine. I hope you're loving it!

Hi Lori! I have only touched the surface of what it can do. I love it so far. I haven't been on much because I have been trying to sew every day after work. I am making the Falling Charms quilt from Block magazine. I have spent more time with my seam ripper than I care to acknowledge. Today I managed to iron AND sew two pieced rows together the wrong way. Sad thing is I ironed it wrong the first time (seams going the wrong way) so ironed one the other way. Then I marked the side I was supposed to sew together, pinned it and STILL managed to sew down the wrong side. UGH. I thought this quilt would be easy and technically it is easy. But I have these rows up on my design wall and the top row has to go upside down on the next row (not just wrong sides together) after it is ironed correctly. By the time I get it from the wall to the ironing board I have lost my sense of direction to the layout.

I have to say the machine, now understand where I am coming from, an old Brother XR-65T that is loud and no features, is quiet and smooth. I LOVE the needle up/down, thread cutter, auto threader, easy bobbin winder, and that I can customize the stitches. It has a default left position needle but that is easily changed. I programmed one of the straight stitches to center the needle and adjusted the stitch length. So every time I turn the machine on, I go to my stitch and it is exactly what I want. I haven't gotten past the straight stitch yet but as soon as I am done with this blasted quilt top, I am going to try other stitches.

So I have enjoyed my new baby. I have yet to name him (it's a Brother so it is fitting to have a male name). But he has kept me busy and I like that. Hubby works 2nd shift so I am home alone after work. I paid $349 for him and he is worth every penny plus more. All the features of expensive machines for a fraction of the cost. With my savings I have bought much more fabric already. That was what I was doing when I checked out the forum. Shopping, shopping, shopping. Lovin' it!

I am so glad you asked.
    Hugs,
    Joanne

I'm glad you are enjoying it so far! Sorry about your sewing woes though. Some days I can't seem to do anything right and just have to shut my machine off for the day!

        Yay for more fabric, too!!
