Pfaff Creative Performance v Janome 12000

I asked for some comparisons of the Bernina 750 and Pfaff Creative Performance 5.0 (which was actually the Creative Performance, not the Performance 5.0--thanks for drawing that to my attention).

Today, I looked at a Janome Horizon MC 12000 for $3.9k. I have ruled out the Bernina due to the many issues I have read about any additional comments related to the Janome (or the Pfaff) for my comparison and decision making purposes would be oh-so-appreciated. Thanks!

I think Genny has a 12000. She will probably be able to speak to the wonderful attributes of that machine.

Below is a link that gives you a lot of information on the Janome 12000.
I purchased this machine in January of this year and I'm still learning new things about what it can do. It has a quiet mode that I use at night while DH is sleeping which he appreciates, it has the one step needle plate conversion, 9mm stitches, and 11 inches of harp/throat space that's great when quilting. I love the fact that the embroidery unit can stay attached to the machine all the time, I never remove it on less I'm moving the machine. The Acu Feed Flex Fabric Feeding System is great when quilting. Embroidery on this machine is perfect!
One thing that I'm not as crazy about is that the embroidery hoops don't seem to be as sturdy as they were on the Janome 11000se and I have a harder time keeping a thicker material in the when I embroidery. When I purchased the Janome 12000 my dealer threw in the "MC12000 Acufil Quilting Kit" and I use this hoop most of the time and it works great!
Last but not least...I DO NOT like the "Horizon Link" software that came with my Janome 12000. I find the only thing I like about it is that I can transfer my designs to my usb's and I use my "Edit N Stitch" software for everything else.
Hope this helps you a little...Check out the link below.

You found a MC 12000 for $3.9k??? That is an amazing price! Is it used? That is an $8k machine!

You just have to try the machines out. You can read features and what other people like, but none of that matters really. The dealer is what matters most, and what machine do you feel most comfortable using.

Take some things you normally sew. If you quilt, take some quilt sandwiches. Test the features. How easy is it to switch things around on the machine?

Both of these machines are awesome! No matter which one you decide on, you will have a great machine! But if you found an MC12000 for 50% less than what the machine generally sells for, that is a STEAL!

Thanks Genny, I especially wanted to know if you really loved the machine. It is a floor model, yes, and she is taking a trade of my BL Espire and will give me more for my Espire than the BL dealer. Full warranty, can trade it back in for purchase price within a year. I really liked this machine, it seems much sturdier than my BL and it has a much, much larger throat and many more decorative stitches. I like but do not love my BL. I did watch the link, thanks very much.

I am fortunate enough to have several dealers of different machines in the area--in the immediate area are Babylock, an HQ Viking and Pfaff store, and Janome (several)--and within a half hour drive, a Bernina dealer. In about 45 minutes, a Janome/HQ dealer. I hadn't been considering a Janome, not sure why, but I bought my featherweight from this dealer about a year ago and I really like them. They have an established store and they were very nice in making sure I had everything I needed with that Featherweight (some of the feet had been missing). They have a nice selection of machines and also do trade ins.

I am a little concerned because I was considering a 48 mos same as cash dealer, but I read a few scary posts about the GE financing most of the sewing dealers use. I don't really want to lay out the cash. So, I'm still thinking. I can definitely live with my BL Espire. I do not NEED this machine. So, I'm still pondering.

Thanks so much, I like to get as much info as I can, especially on a bigger purchase like this--I want to LOVE my machine

Bottom line on the GE financing - it is fine as long as you don't miss a payment or send one in late. Same as with credit service - if you screw up, then all the finance charges get tacked on even if you are on the final payment of the 48 months. It's not like it isn't something they tell you up front if you bother to read all the paperwork.

Re: Pfaff Creative Performance v Janome 12000

Since you have the dealerships within easy reach, go really test out the machines AND the dealers!

And as long as you pay your bills on time, GE isn't any different than any other finance company.

Can you check to see how many hours or stitches the floor model MC12000 has? If you really trust the dealer then no worries on a used machine. I have no problems buying used from my dealer.

It looks like both machines are very very similar feature wise. The Pfaff costs significantly less generally speaking, (Pfaffs are very feature rich for the price you pay!) but you have been offered an awesome deal on the Janome! How many hoops are included?

This is exciting! 2 great machines and some really great prices too! I can't wait to see what you choose!

There should be 4hoops included with this machine and if you can get the dealer to throw in the Acufil Quilting Kit($495.00 value)then you'll get another hoop(which is my favorite).

I di not ask about the hoops, I'm going to have to email her and ask about that an the accufil! I will also ask about the machine hours and if there is a way to see how many stitches it's sewn on the floor. Thanks, please keep the thoughts coming if you have any others.

Dealer said she would give me the Acufil for half the cost.

Still not sure what to do, BIG commitment!
