Just thought I'd share! Last night I went to our local (next town over) quiltshop in Mossby, along with my collegue Cicci and my former collegue Helena. Cicci recently bought her first own sewing machine! She has sewn lots when she was younger (hrm, even younger I should say) but never done any patchwork or quilting. I've taught her to do the fabric boxes we love so much, so she brought her machine along yesterday and made one of those. Helena brought her machine as well (we are the Janome mob!) and worked on a tote. The pattern was in Norwegian and while that is close to Swedish, a lot of words are very different. It was fun to watch her consternation. She is by far the most experienced out of the three of us so it's unusual for her to be in that much trouble.
The quilting shop has an open quilt café (for a very small fee) every wednesday and yesterday was no different. Everyone bring their projects and sewing machines along and sew together for a few hours. There's always something nice to see! I brought my hexagon quilt and put the very last hexagon in the top, except for the gray one I will put around all of it to frame it. I also brought fabric a friend has chosen from my stash for me to make a bubble quilt for her daughter out of, and cut those pieces. Might as well do the boring part of the project in good company, right? They are drying as I type, after a quick wash and ironing.
Charlott at Mossby doesn't have a lot of precuts (but a lot of very nice yardage!) but Cicci managed to find a Rowan sampler that she really liked and today I shower her how to youtube M* tutorials... So there's another quilter in the making, I'm sure!
So, do you all go do any local quilting get togethers? We will go back again, for sure! Might even rent the place for a weekend if we can manage to get away for that long.
