    embroidery on quilts

Has anyone ever used machine embroidery designs on quilts? How did it turn out?

    Re: embroidery on quilts

I have emb. designs on blocks and put them in quilts. so far they have held up well with use and washings. I have also used simple designs to quilt baby quilts. that has worked well too although you have to be careful the weight of the quilt doesn't cause drag and throw the design off. I used simple outlines from Embroidery Library. i did not hoop the quilt but hooped tearaway stabilizer and spray adhesive to attach quilt to hoop.

So far, I've used my embroidery machine for labeling and quilting. What I want to try is doing a redwork block by hand embroidery to incorporate into a wall hanging. I have one that I copied out of a quilting book that I just love. It's a red and white quilt and the center block is a darling old-fashioned floral arrangement.

I have used blocks that have been embroidered, and I have used redwork embroidery (machine) as quilting on a baby quilt. They look great and I know from items I've done and use at home that the embroidery holds up very well thru many machine washings.

I have done two baby quilts using embroidered blocks. One was the alphabet and the other was appliqued trucks, tractors, and construction equipment. They do hold up very well.

I have just finished my first quilt and did some machine embroidery on it.
I got the design from emlibrary
Here are a couple pictures how it turned out.

The embroidery looks super! I really like the feather quilt designs. Did you embroider it in the hoop? I really want to see about getting a hoop that is made specifically for quilting.

Thank you. Yes, I did use the hoop. Since these were only 5 inch blocks I used the smallest hoop my machine came with.
emlibrary has some wonderful quilting designs in various sizes. Being new to this I did do a practice one first before doing it on my quilt.
