    Creative Ideas for a gift

hi, I have friends who moved to Singapore and they are coming back to the states to visit this summer. I'd like to make them something to bring back with them. I'm thinking a small wallhanging type thing, but I'd like it to be Asian style, something to fit in their surroundings. I also thought it would be cool to do something with one of the photos I've seen of their travels all around the Singapore and surrounding areas. Has anyone ever done anything with a photo, where you maybe transfer it to material and quilt it? I'm stretching pretty far I know, but I want something different and very personal! any ideas, please throw them my way!!!

    You could do a panel

I just remembered that Kathy sent me a link to the window idea. I wanted to do a gesha, but put it on the back burner though.

You could do something classic but feature colours and/or materials often used over there?

I did this for a Japanese friend. It is a lap sized quilt and not a wall hanging but may give you an idea. It started with a panel. BTW - she absolutely loved it.

Beautiful quilt! And I love the way you quilted the center panel. I have an asian quilt I'm quilting now for DS1 and I was trying to figure a way to quilt the center that would not take away from the picture in the panel. https://www.fabric.com/quilting-fabr...ng-cranes.aspx
The black fabric has gold diamonds so it will work perfectly. Thanks for showing this beautiful quilt.

Quiltlady - a wall hanging will be a nice gift that should be easy to fit into their luggage. I'm sure they will love it.

I did a wall hanging of lanterns that came out nice.
