hi, I have friends who moved to Singapore and they are coming back to the states to visit this summer. I'd like to make them something to bring back with them. I'm thinking a small wallhanging type thing, but I'd like it to be Asian style, something to fit in their surroundings. I also thought it would be cool to do something with one of the photos I've seen of their travels all around the Singapore and surrounding areas. Has anyone ever done anything with a photo, where you maybe transfer it to material and quilt it? I'm stretching pretty far I know, but I want something different and very personal! any ideas, please throw them my way!!!

I just remembered that Kathy sent me a link to the window idea. I wanted to do a gesha, but put it on the back burner though.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

Originally posted by Grandma G View PostI did this for a Japanese friend. It is a lap sized quilt and not a wall hanging but may give you an idea. It started with a panel. BTW - she absolutely loved it.
The black fabric has gold diamonds so it will work perfectly. Thanks for showing this beautiful quilt.
Quiltlady - a wall hanging will be a nice gift that should be easy to fit into their luggage. I'm sure they will love it.Vonnie
