What do you do with left over binding?

In an attempt to organize (which seems to be never ending in my sewing room) I came across a drawer full of left over binding strips and it seems I keep filling up the drawer but never go in there to use any of it am I wasting time and space by saving this? Patti

If the binding strips are fairly long, I save them to use on charity quilts. Sometimes I sew complimentary pieces together to make it long enough for a quilt.
If the pieces are 8-10 inches I throw them in my strip & string bin until I have enough for a string quilt
If they are really short they go in the bucket to be stuffing for dog beds for my vet..
May the road rise up to meet you...

May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead...

Yep, pretty much what Patt said. I like having mixed binding on my scrap quilts, adds another point of interest.

If your binding is 2.5" you can un-fold & press the strips back in to Jelly roll sized pieces. That would make a super scrappy JR Race quilt!

There are also some of those Trip Around The World blocks that use small squares/strips.

I was thinking the same thing.

I vote for a quilt as you go string quilt. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...71.VDybYXxcz1c

I roll all the left overs together and save them to make a scrappy binding. I love scrappy quilts and bindings

If the strips are long enough, you could use them for a Rail Fence quilt. I save all my 2.5" binding left-overs. I mostly use them for the String Quilt pattern & make the blocks when I have a few min. & don't want to get involved in some other project. I like to use pieced bindings on my baby quilts, but the fabrics will match what's in the quilt top. JCY

Save most of 12" or more. Most are not bias, and can be used for small straight items. Just found the right color and mended a fraying towel.

I have used leftover binding to make QAYG placemats. Check the link below.

I have just been winding them up on extra foam boards that I use to store my fabric wrapped on. I have no idea what I will use them for, but do know that they can be unfolded and used for strips in another quilt or binding.

I throw them in my scrap basket.

I just put mine back with any extra fabric from the project right now. Since I make my own binding, the binding once it is unfolded is just like any other 2.5 inch piece of fabric. Someday I figure I will use it with scrap quilts.
