    Quilt themed tattoo?

So to look at me for the first time, people tend to think things like; Punk, Weirdo, Freak, Irresponsible Kid. All kinds of stereotypes. This may be due to the fact that I have 3 piercings I'm my bottom lip, 13 rings in my ears and 18 tattoos lol. I'm actually pretty shy, quiet, polite, although I can have quite the potty mouth lol. All of my tattoos have a special meaning to me and all have a story. My favorite is a work with glasses reading a book... I'm a bookworm :-) So now I'm thinking of new ink and I've always loved to sew, and ivebeen a quilting addict for about 3 years now. My first thought was to get a seeing machine. But that doesn't seem like enough. Has anyone seen a quilting themed tattoo? Or maybe a stippling pattern with a needle around a good quilting quote? Any ideas?

    Re: Quilt themed tattoo?

As soon as I read your title, I pictured a simple patchwork quilt, undulating for interest, with a needle and thread coming of one corner. Having said that, please promise me you'll look into the health risks of tattoos before you get anymore, please?
Toni ... If I keep sewing long enough, will they make their own dinner?

Toni, I have thought about getting a small quilt, but then to think which pattern I like best makes my head hurt lol. And on the subject of health risks, I've been getting tattooed for 10 years and never had a problem. I research shops annd artists and visit the shop beforehand. I also know what sterilized bags of needles look like. :-) thanks :-)

A lot of neat ones! Just saw one on there that is a wash-away quilt tattoo. It's the one that says Born To Quilt and has a quilting needle and thread. You could use it as inspiration or wear it for a while and see if it's the one you want.

Those are some great ideas for tattoos. I have 3 none pertain to quilting . If I ever did another it would be an iris on my ankle maybe with some quilting or a needle and thread. Not likely I will get more as our tattoo artist can no longer see well enough to do the work. I am not sorry I have the ones I do but doubt another is in my future. I have a butterfly on my left ankle, a hummingbird on the back of my neck and Thumper the rabbit from Bambi on my chest.

                  Hi Karen,
It might take a while, but when you see the tattoo that you are meant to have you will know it. I hope that you will come back and let us see a picture when you find the right one. Good luck!

Karen McTavish's quilting style has had a lot of influence on my quilting. Both of her arms have tattoos of actual feathers she has used on award winning quilts. Go to her site and click on About to see the tattoos:

Ahhh Karen, you and my daughter might make good friends. She is always talking about her next tat- and won't date a boy without some body art. My only problem with them is that they fade and look so dull after awhile. If I were to get one it would be a dresden. I just fell in love with one I made last year and had a glass artist make a scarf pin to match- out of glass. I would love it in a tattoo on my ankle.

I love her tats! I like the patchwork heart on Pinterest as you can really customize the print. I've been thinking about a sewing related tat myself...as soon as I sketch it out. I have 4 now that I drew and they mean so much to me. I can't wait to see yours!
