    Some things are embarrassing...

Well.... Judy the Janome came home today.... Her problem? Gobs of lint.... I left the little Jem with Doug, and I suspect he will find the same problem there..

I plead guilty to not having Judy regularly serviced.... Same with Judy Junior.... I have learned my lesson, and now that I have discovered Doug, who is valise and reasonable, I promise not to let this happen again....

The best thing is that they will be like new! Neither has any mechanical problem.... Janomes just keep on tickin'.

Yo celebrate, I bought a new pair of Lee jeans at Kohl's... I had a gift card.... Then....in honor of my husband, I had teo White Castles with cheese, along with the Lady Godiva caramel truffle bar from Kohl's ....it was a great lunch.

I'm doubly glad to have my girl back, because I will need her at quilt club tomorrow. Yay...

good news sandy.... Janome is a workhorse.. I love mine.. and I am very bad about the cleaning thing...,,, but my DH does take it out to the garage occasionally just to blow the dust out and any threads and lint.. it helps...enjoy... nothing like all the machines working up to par!!!!!!!!!!B

It's wonderful when our babies are all cleaned up- so glad it wasn't anything serious. I kind of like cleaning my machine - trying to get every last bit of fluff and thread out of there. I love the feeling of accomplishment. Right now I can't unscrew the plates from my new Janome - they were set too tight at the factory. Going to have to take it in just for that or it will get too dirty. But I love love love my Janomes.

Sandy, I'm glad you have your machine home. It's hard to not have the machine and projects sitting there. I have noticed a lot of lint and such accumulates in my machine. I keep a can of air (like you use to clean a computer keyboard) and blow the lint out frequently. I hope it helps and is the right thing to do.

Regular cleaning out of the lint in the bobbin area is needed on an ongoing basis. Because I have a built-in thread cutter, more fuzz is generated than on my old machine. With regular stitching/piecing, I clean the bobbin area every 3-4 bobbin refills. If I'm doing FMQ or sewing with flannel, I clean the bobbin area every other bobbin refill. Pipe cleaners work well to capture fuzz from hard to reach areas. Also there are mini vac attachments you can use with your reg. vacuum cleaner to vac out the lint. Absolutely never used canned air! Just a bit of info. canned air is not good for our machines especially if its electronic, as there is moisture in those cans that can promote rusting, also never blow with your mouth in the machine. You can get a great attachment for your vacuum forcomputers and sewing machines and this is what should always be used to get the lint out. sucking is far better them blowing it in deeper and hard to reach places. Probably the best piece of info I learned when I worked for viking.

Great to hear you had a wonderful day, and that Judy is back home.

I keep my machine as clean as I can......tip on how I work....when the new bobbin is winding I take the little brush and while I am waiting I brush everything clean.
                    Every empty bobin again......

                    Have fun sewing

So glad you have your "Judy" back!

And I have to say, so happy to have found this forum! So many great things I have learned. Cleaning my machine with canned air is one of them. Oops, did not know this.

Thanks guys, for your comments..... I really am happy to have my Judy home.... But.... I discovered that the one bobbin cover I have, is on the Jem, which is in the shop for s reviving.... So....mi blue taped over the opening. I'll stop by the shop today, and get a new one, if Doug has one, or just get the old one.....

You can bet I 'll be more careful about keeping my Janome clean,.... I will keep her covered when fit in use, too. Doug sent her home under a heavy plastic cover....

At least there was nothing actually wrong with her.... I hope the Jem fared as well..... They are my D yens mic Duo!

Quilting club is this morning.... Got to go get ready.... I have a little more sewing to do.... We will be working on our PL. Quiltd...

                          Re: Some things are embarrassing...

                          Hi Sandy,

I'm happy for you! A couple of days ago my needle broke really bad, couldn't find all parts of it and decided to take a look under the plate. Off course, while under "the knife", cleaned it out too. I was amazed how many fuzzies I found, because I do clean it myself rather often.

Should the weather be getting better, we could meet each other soon. Off course we do need to check out Fabric Shack.

I'm still praying for you and your loved ones, Sandy. May you always feel the comfort that God has to offer.
