    Question about UFO's

If you buy most of the fabric and have a pattern in mind but have not started any cutting or sewing does that count as UFO? I joined the UFO group here and was getting optimistic about reducing my todo list then remembered fabric I have bought with project in mind.

    Re: Question about UFO's

Hmm...that’s a good question Marta. Can fabric be considered a UFO if it hasn’t been cut yet? I count my unused fabric that was purchased for a particular project as part of my stash. It becomes a UFO once it has a seam.

I don't count that as a UFO because if your changed your mind you could just put the fabric into your stash.

        Re: Question about UFO's

I only count it as a UFO once I've started working on it. I have been working on my UFO's and then will move on to the new projects I have waiting.

I sure hope I don't need to count fabric purchased but not cut as a UFO. If I did, I'd have about a hundred UFO's.... LOL
As it is, I have at least 15 UFO's in various stages of completion,,, I joined the UFO Group hoping to get motivated to finish these up.. So far it's working.

I only count my cut projects as UFO's. Otherwise, it's shelf decor!!!

Because I have 30 quilt tops waiting to be quilted, I only count those as my UFOs. (Oops, only 28 now!) If I counted all the things I started then I would be so far past that number I might get discouraged. I think everyone can have their own definition of what a UFO is, but personally I would definitely not count fabric I bought for a project. It is stash to me. Make a separate list for those so you can keep them in mind.

What should we name that list?

UfO's, currently have three; if I count all the projects I have fabric for I would be competing with Cynidiofthevortex....

                  Re: Question about UFO's

Our guild is having a UFO challenge this year and being a fairly new quilter I didn't really have much in the way of UFOs so I took the fabric I had bought for a specific project and cut at least part of it. I might have just cut the binding strips but it was then in progress so I could count it as a UFO [by my definition]. I still have several in the works but have a retreat this weekend so maybe I will make lots of progress.

So far in 2014 I have completed 8 of my UFO's!

Ok, Bernadette is definitely winning the race! I am only on finish number 3 but I'm raring to get at more of them. I'm basting two more tops this weekend so I don't ever have a break in my quilting. My shoulders are starting to get sore from so much FMQing though! I need to take up drinking to ease my sore shoulders. Anyone have a hot tub I can come and soak in?

More snow here, coming down hard. It really is never going to stop!
