    Microwave Bowl Holder question...

I've read on here where some of you use "Warm and Natural" Cotton Batting for your "Microwave Bowl Holders". When I ordered this from Joann's Fabrics I ordered 100% cotton batting and I received what is pictured below. Is this the kind you use? Thanks in advance, Genny

No - there was a specific product called Warm Tater also made by the same company. It was truly 100% cotton and didn't contain any polypropylene which will melt in the microwave.

Due to a liability issue the company has discontinued it. Looks like Warm and Plush may be a replacement. Here's the link: Warm Tater | The Warm Company

Thanks, when I ordered this it said 100% cotton and when I received this today I seen that it said 87.5 cotton. "Warm Tater" batting isn't made anymore so not sure what to use.

Pellon makes Wrap-N-Zap 100% cotton batting and it is sold for potato bags, casserole warmers. It is microwave safe. I think I bought it at Joann's. I looked for the Tater-Tots package, but I don't think they carry it anymore. This is basically the same product, just by another manufacturer. It comes in a package 45" X 1 yard.

I wonder what the "natural" part of warm & natural is if the composition is 12.5% plastic which is warm but hardly "natural". I'm at work but I'll check the label (if I haven't gotten rid of it yet) from my warm&white because I just assumed that it was 100% cotton but now I think maybe not?!

Joann's website is calling warm & white 100% cotton but they are calling Warm & Natural 100% cotton as well and obviously that is not the case.

I was going to order Warm Tater, too, but went with the replacement batting they recommended. Here is the insert they sent along with my order.

I wonder how many people haven't read the back of the package where it says it's only 87.5 percent cotton. This could cause fires.

This new Pellon stuff I bought is 100% cotton and states on the package that it's microwave safe; however, I noticed that the mfg. has labeled it as not fire proof or flame retardant and for cooking over 4 minutes, to flip items to avoid overheating. I guess they're covering all bases with the warnings!

I couldn't find the paper from the warm & natural I have cut from the roll from Joann's but the paper for the Warm & White does contain poly. That is terribly misleading. Off to email Joanns about the error on their website.

All I know is that the Warm & Natural/White that is sold as cotton batting that does contain some polyester is the one with the scrim. That is the poly part. It's what they needle the cotton through to make the batting and to help hold it's shape.

I do believe you can get the W&N/W without scrim and that should be 100% cotton.

I am a bit bothered by this as well. All the sites I went to including the company who makes them state 100% cotton with no mention of the poly. I have send a inquiry to the company directly to see what they say.

That's frustrating. I just checked the roll of warm &white that I bought from Joann's and it does say 87.5% cotton! I just purchased a package of Mountain Mist cream rose also from them and it says 100% cotton. I guess I got fooled by their "natural" name. I know Jenny said she uses and 80/20 but is that for longarms?

Wow... I never knew any of this. I have bought both Warm & Natural and have preferred it over the Mountain Mist; the Mountain Mist seemed thinner and stretchier (for lack of a better word); just not as much "substance" as the W/N. Hmm... something to think about.
